“Our development also becomes that of our customers”

Following our joint venture with the machine builders of FMI, we are once again independent as Improvia. Even more focus on engineering, agility, and multidisciplinary: this benefits both our customers and employees.

The familiar red is back, with a fresh light blue in the new corporate identity. Think of it as a combination of years of brand recognition and a renewed direction, now that our company has become independent at the start of 2025. The name FMI Improvia has disappeared; we are now Improvia and Viventris. Separately, each company’s identity is clearer. This allows us to clearly profile ourselves as specialists in location-independent engineering.

Too many disciplines combined

In 2020, Improvia joined forces with several companies. “We complemented each other and leveraged our knowledge,” says Koen Dankers, director at Improvia. “Yet, the outside world wasn’t always clear about what our group did, partly due to the different target groups.” FMI ImProvia in Drachten focused on vision technology, while FMI ImProvia in Best focused on food handling machinery. Meanwhile, we provided engineering for multiple markets, while our sister company ÆVO offers services for bridges, locks, and tunnels.

Smaller Scale and Just as Stable

There was simply too much overlap within FMI ImProvia. As a result, we are now separating, with each company having a clear profile. This is also the case for Improvia: there’s a new website, and communication is now focusing more on our expertise, provided by approximately 100 engineers. They have been aware of the new direction for some time and, according to Field and Marketing Manager Cynthia Scholtz, are now more central than ever. “Our organization has a clear focus again, with more attention for everyone. We also remain part of the Dutch Technology Alliance. We maintain the feeling of a close-knit company, supported by a very stable foundation.”

Always the Required Capacity

Improvia will retain its offices in Aachen, Hoofddorp, Best, Drachten, and Breda. When our engineers aren’t working there, they’re on-site. “The choice is the client’s,” Koen emphasizes. “That location-independent engineering is what defines us. We have all the necessary disciplines in-house, for mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as software engineering. We take a broad approach to project management, with an infrastructure that includes multiple CAD packages. We also have a permanent and agile team of engineers, with always sufficient capacity for engineering on a weekly basis.”

More attention for everyone

Together, all these characteristics go significantly further than standard consultancy, Koen wants to say. “By becoming independent, we emphasize our specialization. There’s simply more clarity, and clients see the results sooner and in a more concrete way. Our development becomes theirs as well.” Moreover, this last point also applies to everyone at Improvia, Cynthia notes. “We’ve always focused on our employees, for example, with knowledge sessions, refresher days, and a vitality budget. Now that we have a clear focus again, that bond with the company has only grown. At Improvia, you work for the client and are often on-site. But you’re our colleague first and foremost. You notice that here more than ever.
